OCÉANO TRANQUILO
Intro. "Azure Polarity Radio"

The journey to the station was to last 6 months. Throughout that period, the captain and his crew would remain in a state of stasis, suspended in time, with all their vital signs permanently monitored by the onboard computers as they travelled light-years away from Earth.

Captain Harris and his team would perform their mission aboard the Hipparchus spacecraft.

Chapter I. "Nu Octantis"
Just awake after six long stasis months, the entire crew was on the main deck. Incessant communications with the flight control centre in the Draco constellation echoed in the cockpit while the last manoeuvres were finalised. On the screens, surface and atmospherical data along with radars and plotters were displayed.

Approaching Nu Octantis.
ETA: 55 minutes.

Chapter II. "The Distant Glow"
While the captain was flying across the dark emptiness in the Nymra 21 surroundings, that glow in the distance he hardly perceived from time to time by the corner of his helmet's golden sun shield seemed to have taken him out of the introspection he had unintentionally slipped in as he was checking all those boring routines before entering the lambda phase.
Perhaps he should get a closer view.

Chapter III. "AstraNova"
Tired, still sitting by the stranded spacecraft while he wondered about what could had failed that time, the captain felt for a moment the weight of the whole universal void on his shoulders.
Far in the horizon, the shivering glow coming from the AstraNova station made him think about home; about his friends back there.
He started all the SpaceTrack navigation system config process once again.
He had to get back home.
He was going to get back home leaving that empty rock behind.

Chapter IV. "Aurora Stellaris"
After spending long hours working on it, the SpaceTrack navigation system was running fine and the captain could take off and leave that empty rock behind.
Once all the coordinates entered and on his way to AstraNova, he could finally sit back and have a relaxing flight letting the spaceship gently make her way through all the comets flying around while he enjoyed that particularly gorgeous spacelight show.

Chapter V. "Pulsar"
After reaching cruising speed, as per the instructions he received at the AstraNova station, the captain opened the confidential hologram containing the location coordinates of his new mission's target.
- Declination: -60° 37′ 22.7″
- Right Ascension: 11h 21m 15.78s
Once he entered them into the navigation system, he discovered that his new destination was at the Centaurus constellation. He had been sent specifically to X-3.
To the Pulsar!

Chapter VI. "Spacewalk"
On the way to the Centaurus X-3 Pulsar, a magnetic storm had damaged the High Frequency antenna. An EVA (extravehicular activity) was necessary to repair it and restore the communications with the AstraNova station.
The captain had to go outside the spacecraft for a spacewalk.

Chapter VII. "Alpha Centauri"

4.243 light-years far from home, and 3 monts away from the AstraNova station, the spacecraft was approaching the Centaurus constellation, at the northern end of our galaxy. Just going out from a darker quadrant, the crew appreciated the dazzling sight of Alpha Centauri, the brightest star system in Centaurus.

Text for the first alternative setting:
"At the same time, the captain could also feel the tension increasing in the cockpit, as they were getting closer to their mission's target, the pulsar Centaurus X-3. Nobody had gone as far as they were; but still they had to reach it. Was the spaceship going to stand its huge radiation? They would soon know". Activate the setting and feel that tension!
Text for the second alternative setting:
"You are the COMMS officer". Activate the setting and feel like him!

Chapter VIII. "Landing on Centaurus X-3"
Despite lingering doubts about the behaviour of the Hipparchus' hull and electronic systems under the radiation existing in the vicinity of the surface of the neutron star Centaurus X-3, the spacecraft finally landed normally.
Equipped with their maximum protection suits, all the scientific mission personnel together with a security team, all them led by the captain, waited expectantly for the red light to turn to green.
As they descended the landing ramp, the entire team discovered the real appearance of the star's surface and began to move cautiously forward, facing the unknown under a sky crisscrossed by numerous bolides.

Chapter IX. "The Crystal"
There it was, at last: the precious material for which they had traveled so far; the main target of the Hipparchus' mission to the pulsar Centaurus X-3.

There it had remained, protected from the powerful X-ray radiation, down in the abysmal depths of the Lonely Sea's gigantic crater.

Massive. Colossal. Magnificent. Unique.

The rock had hit the star's surface millions of years ago. Most likely due to its relative proximity to the star's core, the charred meteorite had turned into that prodigious wonder.
The entire crew was standing there, wholly fascinated by the beauty of the crystal.

Chapter X. "Return to Earth"
The mission had so far been a complete success.
Centaurus X-3 was already behind them.
Once the Hipparchus lifted off, and after the celebrations to mark the success of the mission, the entire crew was fully active again, preparing for phase II of their return to Earth. Before entering stasis, they were to transmit all their research data and perform maintenance on the spacecraft.
The crystal samples were on board and would be studied on Earth for cloning and mass production.
The long journey ahead of them was to be the last for the Hipparchus. But perhaps that mission would not be the crew's last; certainly not Captain Harris's either.
