What's  the IARU Monitoring System?

The IARU Monitoring System (IARU Monitoring System, IARUMS) is a worldwide service authorized by the IARU (International Amateur Radio Union) Board of Directors.

One of the main objectives of the IARU Monitoring System (IARUMS) is the identification and initiation of the steps that lead to the elimination of radio signals coming from stations without ham radio authorization that cause harmful interference to amateur services, contrary to the regulations of the International Telecommunication Union and the national radio regulations of each country. The typical intrusions in our amateur radio bands include, among others, shortwave transmitters, OTH (Over the Horizon Radar) radar, CODAR, unlicensed operators in the bands, RTTY and military beacons, network beacons and various types of signals.

The IARU Monitoring System is staffed by many dedicated volunteers who have served effectively for many years. Each of the three regional organizations of IARU selects and appoints a Regional Coordinator of IARUMS. The operations of the IARU Monitoring System are coordinated by the Monitoring System Committee (MSC).
